As the pandemic hit my country, there was one thing that become a trend, which was cycling. Somehow, I also found myself bought a bicycle and started to ride it. As I started to ride every weekend, I noticed something that have a very important task, which was traffic light. As much as I saw it, I thought about what can I learned from it that I could apply in my life. So I started to divide it into each part.

First one, “red light”. Everyone knows that it means that we have to stop. If I want to directly apply it in life, it would be “we should stop at some points”. Well it is true, but as I read some articles, I found that sometimes we could disobey the rule of red light for some conditions. For example, when the ambulance is taking a patient to the hospital or the firefighter who are on their way to do their task, they could nullify this rule. I think that sometimes, all of the rules that existed and also the people around us will ask us to stop at some points of our life. We should be able to know also what is right for us and take the best decision considering all of the situation

Stop sign from someone else does not mean we have to stop

Second is “green light”. Yes, it is shows that we could go on to our next step. A different perspective from the red light, I think sometimes we stop ourselves without knowing that we could go. In case of red light, we already learned that we need to know when we could “break through” it. For the green light, sometimes, we trapped in our fear that cause us to stay still even when we could go.

Sometimes, it is us that make us not going anywhere

Third, “yellow light”. For this one, I will directly extract the real meaning of it to learn it. Yes, it means we have to be careful. I think before we have to stop or go in our life we have to know there is a possibility when you have to go even when it is green light or you have to go on even when it is the red light. The yellow light phase gives us a room to think, consider, and prepare our self for the next step of our life. Of course sometimes I think that we tend to forget that we need this kind of phase in our life and instead just go on to do what I think is right.

Always prepare for everything

I think from the traffic light we learned that in every situation or phase from our life, we need to be prepare, know when to not care of the rules, and try to not blinded by our ability without consider all things around us.
